Just a little about me and my background. My name is pronounced Mick-KAY-lah Ben-ah-VEE-dez. It's a tricky name, I know. Telemarketers are always getting it wrong.

 

I graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2000. I went on to attend Nova Southeastern University from 2004-2009 where I earned my Master’s of Science in Psychology in 2007 and my Doctorate of Psychology in August 2009.

While going to graduate school, I worked at two different practicums involving traumas (The Family Violence Program and the Trauma Resolution and Integration Program). I learned how to help people cope with all that comes with trauma including PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, and other types of difficulties.

After graduate school, I did my internship and post-doc work at The Renfrew Center, a renowned eating disorder facility. I learned to help people with various eating disorders in individual and group therapy settings. 

​

I am now in private practice and continue to help people with various difficulties including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks among other things.

 

I'm licensed as a psychologist in Texas and California. I work with adults ages 18 and over. I am EMDR trained and am working on my EMDR certification. I'm passionate about my work and helping you achieve the goals you've set for yourself.
